This presentation has been a long standing tradition with our eighth grade class and we hope you will join us. Half day dismissal will be silent at 11:30am.

Exciting News from the Art Room!

St. Joseph School, Snoqualmie Campus, is registered with Artsonia.com, an online art gallery that allows students to have their own webpage to showcase their artwork!  Artsonia allows parents to view their child’s artwork and share it with family members and friends all around the world.

Over 500 images of student artwork have already been uploaded to our school’s art gallery with more art being uploaded each week.  So far we have had close to 200 “Artist Fans” join our gallery to cheer on our students, and 120 students have already earned online awards!  Most recently, Artsonia chose SJS seventh grader, Scott R., as a finalist for “Artist of the Week” and he received over 900 votes from the online art community!  St. Joseph Students have been so excited to see all the great feedback from family and friends that is posted to their gallery page, so thank you to everyone that has shown their support!

Parental permission is required for each student and we have already reached 100% school-wide participation for fourth  and fifth grades, as well as the sixth and seventh graders that have completed a trimester of art enrichment.  Over the next few weeks, email invitations from Artsonia will be going out for this trimester’s art enrichment students.

If you have any questions about Artsonia, please contact Art Instructor, Laura Henion at lhenion@sjsissaquah.org.

We hope you enjoy St. Joseph School’s online art gallery at: www.artsonia.com/museum/gallery.asp?school=162520

  Mandatory Volunteer Requirements:

At St. Joseph School the safety of our students, mind and body, is important to all of us. In order to volunteer in any capacity that involves students such as classroom volunteers, coaches, scout leaders, or field trip volunteers, volunteers must meet the following requirements:

NEW VOLUNTEERS:

           ●  Attend a volunteer training at St. Joseph School.

           ●  Sign a Confidentiality Pledge yearly (last page of the Volunteer Handbook)

           ●  Go online at http://www.virtusonline.org to request and pass a Volunteer Background Check.

           ●  Send a copy of your certificate of completion to Roxane Barkley in the school office at office@sjsissaquah.org

RETURNING VOLUNTEERS:

●  Go online at www.virtusonline.org, fill out and pass a Volunteer Background Check every 3 years. Complete associated on-line class.

●  Review the Volunteer Handbook yearly

●  Sign a Confidentiality Pledge yearly (last page of the Volunteer Handbook)

For questions, please contact Roxane Barkley in the Issaquah office, 425-313-9129 x 321.

New Safe Environment information:

The archdiocese has made substantial changes to the Safe Environment program last year and it has been working out the glitches over the year. The archdiocese still requires a valid background check every three years, a 3 hour in-person class, and every three years, an on-line course.  The school also requires in-person attendance at a class conducted at school and a signed Confidentiality Form. The school form is on our website.

All background checks and on-line classes go through www.virtusonline.org.  If you have been a volunteer anywhere in the archdiocese previously, you will be in the system. Please contact Roxane Barkley at office@sjsissaquah.org if you need help navigating the system.
