AUCTION NEWS

Auction Invitations - Building Community, Sharing Hope, Walking Together!

We look forward to seeing everyone as we celebrate the 20th annual St. Joseph School Auction onMarch 4, at the Westin Bellevue.  Do you know of someone that would like to attend the auction but is not a current SJS parent?  Send us their contact information and we will send them an auction invitation. The more, the merrier!  Please note the RSVP deadline is February 16, 2017.

We Need your Help to Stock the Wine Cellar!

Our wine cellar needs your help!  We’d love your contributions of wine valued between $25 and $75 to stock the wine cellar for the auction. This is a fun addition to our event but we need your help!  Please bring donations of wine to the school office at either campus.  Please DO NOT send wine to school with your child. Only hand wine to an adult auction volunteer or office staff.

For procurement credit, please attach a completed procurement form with your donation. Procurement forms can be found at www.sjsissaquah.org/auction

Calling All St. Joseph's Dessert Dash Bakers!

Warm up your ovens!  We are looking for delicious baked desserts for our Dessert Dash table at this year’s School Auction.  Cakes, pies, bars, the sky’s the limit.  This is a fun way to accomplish some of your volunteer hours…shopping for the ingredients count too!

To make dropping off your dessert easier, we will have volunteers at the front door of the Westin so that you do not have to park and run items up. Simply pull into the valet area and we will take it from there!

Who?   You

What?  Bake a dessert for our School Auction

When? Saturday, March 4, 2017 9:00am-Noon drop off

Where? Westin Bellevue Hotel

Why?   Because baking is fun, you care and you can earn school volunteer hours too!

Table Captains

Please send the names of those who will be attending the auction at your table. Please remember that you do not need to send payment for the table, just the names at this time.  Individuals will still reply with an RSVP card and their individual payment.  Email names to Megan Michalson at mmichalson@sjsissaquah.org

As a thank you for serving as a Table Captain, each Captain will receive:

·      Free valet parking at the auction

·      An extra bottle of wine at the auction dinner

·      Recognition at the auction

·      Good karma for helping promote St. Joseph School to others

Mandatory Volunteer Requirements:

At St. Joseph School the safety of our students, mind and body, is important to all of us. In order to volunteer in any capacity that involves students such as classroom volunteers, coaches, scout leaders, or field trip volunteers, volunteers must meet the following requirements:

NEW VOLUNTEERS:

           ●  Attend a volunteer training at St. Joseph School.

           ●  Sign a Confidentiality Pledge yearly (last page of the Volunteer Handbook)

           ●  Go online at http://www.virtusonline.org to request and pass a Volunteer Background Check.

           ●  Attend a free, 3-hour Safe Environment training program “Protecting God’s Children” for Adults held in locations throughout the Seattle Archdiocese. Register for classes at www.virtusonline.org.
           ●  Send a copy of your certificate of completion to Roxane Barkley in the school office at office@sjsissaquah.org

RETURNING VOLUNTEERS:

●  Go online at www.virtusonline.org, fill out and pass a Volunteer Background Check every 3 years. Complete associated on-line class.

●  Review the Volunteer Handbook yearly

●  Sign a Confidentiality Pledge yearly (last page of the Volunteer Handbook)

For questions, please contact Roxane Barkley in the Issaquah office, 425-313-9129 x 321.

New Safe Environment information:

The archdiocese has made substantial changes to the Safe Environment program last year and it has been working out the glitches over the year. The archdiocese still requires a valid background check every three years, a 3 hour in-person class, and every three years, an on-line course.  The school also requires in-person attendance at a class conducted at school and a signed Confidentiality Form. The school form is on our website.

All background checks and on-line classes go through www.virtusonline.org.  If you have been a volunteer anywhere in the archdiocese previously, you will be in the system. Please contact Roxane Barkley at office@sjsissaquah.org if you need help navigating the system.
