SJS Middle School Play The Emperor’s New Clothes – tomorrow!

Ladies and gentlemen, please join us for a silly production of The Emperor’s New Clothes. The cast of the winter play has been working hard to present a delightful performance, and we would love your company. Please join the SJS Players the evening of March 9, 2018 at 7:00 pm in the Snoqualmie campus gym for rollicking good time.

 

Pizza – Third Trimester – due tomorrow

Third trimester Pizza orders are due by March 9. The order form can be found here.

 

Textile Drive is tomorrow and Saturday

Friday, March 9, from 8:00 – 9:15am drop off at both campuses

Saturday, March 10, drop off from 9am to 12pm at the Issaquah campus.

We accept: Clothes, shoes, bedding, towels, accessories, electrical items, DVD’s, CD’s, books, kitchen items, and sporting goods!

To ensure the school gets the most out of the donations, please make sure that your items are neatly packed in like bags.

Milk – Third Trimester

Milk orders for third trimester are due by March 12. Please click here for the form.

 

Second Trimester ends with a half day

Thursday, March 15, marks the end of the second trimester. We will have an early dismissal for report card preparation.

Snoqualmie will dismiss at 11:30. Issaquah will dismiss at 11:50

 

Professional Development Day

There will be no school on Friday, March 16, as our teachers attend an Archdiocesan Professional Development Day. Both school offices will also be closed.

 

Class and Eighth Grade Graduation Pictures

Class pictures and eighth grade graduation pictures have been scheduled. Please check the schedule list below for your student's class picture day.

Students must wear full dress uniform. No Red, no Khaki.

Eighth grade families should look for Cap and Gown picture information to come home in today’s Thursday folder.

Fourth Grade Information Night at the Snoqualmie Campus

We invite parents of new and upcoming fourth graders to join us for a night all about fourth grade! Meet the fourth grade teachers, tour the Snoqualmie Campus and get all your questions answered!

Thursday, March 22, 6:30-7:30pm. Please note: this is a parent only event.

 

St. Joseph School Lenten Project 

We are collecting coins again this year for NPH (Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos formally known as Friends of the Orphans) for our Lenten Project. Please remember your pennies!  This Catholic organization has homes in Haiti, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Peru for orphaned children. We have supported this worthy organization for several years and they appreciate our partnership. Monies will be collected through Thursday, March 29 and will go to where they have the greatest need.

 

Yearbook pictures needed

The yearbook committee is hard at work creating a book full of memories from the school year and we are looking for yearbook pictures! Do you have pictures from last fall? Do you have pictures from soccer, basketball, or cross country?

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

 

Textile Volunteers still needed

We still have a couple of opportunities on both the Issaquah and Snoqualmie Campuses Friday, March 9 and Saturday, March 10 to help load and sort donated items.  Please head over to On Volunteer to see positions that still need filling!

 

Scholastic Book Fair volunteers needed

We are looking for 2 people to run the Scholastic Book Fair next fall. Ideally, we will have one parent in Snoqualmie, and one in Issaquah. We will offer spring training for this position.

We are also looking for parents to work on the yearbook next year. This is done from home, so if you are working and still need volunteer hours, this could be perfect for you!

Mandatory Volunteer Requirements:

At St. Joseph School the safety of our students, mind and body, is important to all of us. In order to volunteer in any capacity that involves students such as classroom volunteers, coaches, scout leaders, or field trip volunteers, volunteers must meet the following requirements:

 

RETURNING VOLUNTEERS:

●  Go online at virtusonline.org, fill out and pass a Volunteer Background Check every 3 years. Complete associated on-line class.

●  Review the Volunteer Handbook yearly

●  Sign a Confidentiality Pledge yearly (last page of the Volunteer Handbook)

 

NEW VOLUNTEERS:

           ●  Attend a volunteer training at St. Joseph School. Scheduled for just prior to either campus’ Back to School Night.

           ●  Sign a Confidentiality Pledge yearly (last page of the Volunteer Handbook),

           ●  Go online at virtusonline.org to request and pass a Volunteer Background Check.

           ●  Attend a free, 3-hour Safe Environment training program “Protecting God’s Children” for Adults
               held in locations throughout the Seattle Archdiocese. (Register for classes at www.virtusonline.org)

           ●  Send a copy of your certificate of completion to Roxane Barkley in the school office.

SJS 8th grader, Willow W., and her Softball team, Bellevue Blast 14U, won 2nd place at the Winter Warm Up Softball Tournament this past weekend. 

SJS 6th grader, Summer W., and her Softball team, Bellevue Blast 12U, won 1st place in the Silver Bracket for the Meadowdale Opener Softball Tournament this past weekend.

 

PARENTS' CLUB

The next Parents’ Club meeting will be on the Issaquah Campus on April 9, at 9:00am in the St. Theresa Room (parish library). All parents are encouraged to attend.
