Walk-A-Thon – pledges due tomorrow

A HUGE thank you to our Walk-A-Thon co-chairs, Pam Jones and Deana Rudolph, along with all the parent volunteers for making this year’s Walk-A-Thons successful.  The students had lots of fun despite a few rain drops.

We would also like to extend a thank you to our Walk-A-Thon business donors! They include Arena Sports, Red Robin, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Party @ Display and Costume and Family Fun Center. They helped to keep the Walk-A-Thon under budget for expenses and provided some fun and exciting give-a-ways and prizes.

Thank you for all the early pledge returns. Please remember each family is required to procure at least $100 in donations. Pledge donations are due tomorrow, Friday, May 19.

Survey Monkey

St. Joseph School strives to be the best school we can be. We continually evaluate our programs to make sure we are offering an excellent education and a supportive community to you and your student. To help us with this, you received a link to a survey yesterday.  Please take a moment and click here to provide your feedback in the areas of the SJS Auction and Parents’ Club.  Thank you!

Thank you from Mrs. Weitzsacker

In 2006, I came to teach band here at St. Joe’s. My daughter was 4 and the part time position was a perfect fit.  The 5th grade band started that year, with a single class and the Advanced Band had 7 students. I’ve seen the school grow to double grades, an addition on the building, and the Advanced Band doubled in size. Over the past 11 years I have taught band, choir (accompanying masses), technology grades 1-3, 6th grade social studies, technology grades 4/5, and have subbed for just about everything on the Snoqualmie campus.  It has been an adventure!

My daughter is in high school now and the time has come to go back to a larger music program.  I want to thank the students, parents, and staff of St. Joe’s.  It has been a privilege to work with so many great students and so many wonderfully talented colleagues.  It has been a pleasure to be part of this school.

From Mrs. Michalson

Over the past 2 years, it has been a pleasure to serve as the SJS Development Director.  During that time I have seen firsthand the wonderful, committed community here and have felt blessed to be able to be a part of it and to contribute to the mission of the school.

I wanted to share the news that I will be leaving SJS at the end of the school year.  This was a difficult decision but one that I felt was in the best interest of my young family.  I have loved my work here, but need some more time with my children and family.  I have accepted a part-time position at Sacred Heart School, where my oldest daughter attends school and also where we are parishioners.  Thank you for the many ways you have supported my work during my time at SJS.  I will fondly remember the years I have spent with you and will look forward to hearing about the ongoing growth and success of SJS.

Thank you from the yearbook committee

Thank you to all those that sent in yearbook pictures. The yearbook was sent to the printer on Monday.

If any parents would like to be class photographers next year, please let Michele, Ann-Marie or Pearl know. You would be responsible for your child's grade.

A message from FACTS

Please read the following statement issued by FACTS regarding the recent cyber attacks:

The security of our clients’ data is of the utmost importance to FACTS Management. To that end, we wanted to take a moment to update you on a change to our systems in response to the recent global cyber-attack.

On Friday, May 12, a large cyber-attack targeting users of the Microsoft Windows operating system was launched using the WannaCry ransomeware program. The attack has infected more than 230,000 computers in more than 150 countries.

Microsoft quickly issued a number patches to fix the exposed backdoor which compromised the security of many devices. While none of our systems were exposed to the malware, FACTS has applied all patches to protect against this attack.

On behalf of all of us at FACTS, thank you for your continued partnership. We promise to remain vigilant as it relates to all security-related issues.

New Safe Environment information:

The archdiocese has made substantial changes to the Safe Environment program last year and it has been working out the glitches over the year. The archdiocese still requires a valid background check every three years, a 3 hour in-person class, and every three years, an on-line course.  The school also requires in-person attendance at a class conducted at school and a signed Confidentiality Form. The school form is on our website.

All background checks and on-line classes go through www.virtusonline.org.  If you have been a volunteer anywhere in the archdiocese previously, you will be in the system. Please contact Roxane Barkley at office@sjsissaquah.org if you need help navigating the system.
