Middle School Progress Reports

Friday, May 5, marks the middle of the third trimester, and teachers have updated student grades via the PowerSchool Portal. Please log in with your son or daughter and review his/her current grades. This is an important time to look over your child's progress in each class. When you look at your student’s performance in the gradebook portal, you can view both overall grades and individual assignment grades. To view the assignments in a class, click on the letter grade displayed by the class name. Individual assignments and scores sometimes include teacher comments as well. Remember that mid-trimester grades are a snapshot of your student's performance. Encourage your son/daughter to stay focused and finish the year strong. If you have questions about your child's work or classroom performance, talk with him/her about it and encourage your child to talk with the teacher. In middle school it is really important for kids to learn how to advocate for themselves. Any technical issueslogging into the site should be directed to karney@sjsissaquah.org.

Volunteer Hours reminder

We would like to remind everyone that the deadline to get your volunteer hours entered into OnVolunteer is May 15.  All volunteer hours performed after that day count toward next school year.  Please do not turn in a form, you must go into the site and input the hours. Paper copies of the volunteer timesheet are not accepted and will be returned to you.  To access the site and log your hours, please visit http://stj.iss.onvolunteers.com.

Volunteers needed in preparation for Issaquah Art and Authors Night!

Hello Elementary Parents! I am seeking volunteer help with preparing your children's wonderful art for our fast approaching Issaquah Art and Author Night on May 11.  There are many projects to be glued onto background paper and such.  This is a great way to volunteer from home!  If you are interested, come by the art room in Issaquah on Wednesdays or Thursdays before 9 or after 12 and I will give you a folder with all of the supplies and art with instructions. Then return the same way or to the office.  I can also leave a folder for you in the office if the above times are inconvenient for you.  Thanks so much for your help!  Mrs. Mac.  lmacinnes@sjsissaquah.org

McGirl Hall.  We need 4 volunteers to help serve the food, 2 volunteers to replenish the beverage table and 2 volunteers to help with the activities (the photo booth and bingo table). The two students who would help with the activities would start the evening at the photo booth taking pictures and after dinner would run the Bingo event.  Students should arrive at 5:30pm so we can show them what their jobs will entail. This event will end at 8:30pm.  To volunteer, please contact Kathy Rempe at kathyrempe@gmail.com.

New Safe Environment information:

The archdiocese has made substantial changes to the Safe Environment program last year and it has been working out the glitches over the year. The archdiocese still requires a valid background check every three years, a 3 hour in-person class, and every three years, an on-line course.  The school also requires in-person attendance at a class conducted at school and a signed Confidentiality Form. The school form is on our website.

All background checks and on-line classes go through www.virtusonline.org.  If you have been a volunteer anywhere in the archdiocese previously, you will be in the system. Please contact Roxane Barkley at office@sjsissaquah.org if you need help navigating the system.
