Family Vacations - SJS Handbook

Parents are asked to avoid deviating from the school calendar or daily instructional schedule for the convenience of family vacations. Parents should not plan appointments or vacations during the time students are taking standardized tests. Unscheduled days off from school for family vacations cause students to miss valuable instruction for which teachers are unable to provide a special studies program. Assignments will not be given in anticipation of the vacation, and in addition teachers are not required to give make-up tests or assignments for absences due to vacation. Absences due to family vacation are not considered excused.

FROM THE BUSINESS OFFICE

Tax Fraud Scheme Update from the Archdiocese

We have learned that six individuals have been charged in the 2013 tax fraud scheme that affected some employees and volunteers of the Archdiocese.  Five of these individuals have been convicted on multiple counts of mail and wire fraud and related charges.  Two have been sentenced to federal prison (a 6 year and a 9 year term).  The other three are awaiting sentencing.  Although these convictions do not change the fact that many of our employees and volunteers experienced stress and a tremendous amount of inconvenience, it is reassuring to know that at least some of the individuals responsible are being held accountable for their crimes.  We have been told that the large number of employees and volunteers who attended the regional gatherings and signed affidavits for the IRS agents was helpful to their investigation.

An article on this topic from May 2016 is available here. The update above is the newest information we have received.

The Grant and Aid portal is now open on FACTS

The deadline to apply for Fulcrum Grants is December 2, 2017 for the 2018-19 schoolyear and the school will review aid applications during the registration process.  The same application is used for consideration for both.

An information sheet regarding how to apply and information you will need to apply went home in last Thursday’s envelope. The link to SJS school specific FACTS Grant and Aid is:  https://online.factsmgt.com/signin/4C4G4

Please contact Ann Vandewark, Business Manager, at business@sjsissaquah.org or (425) 888-9130 x103 if you have any questions regarding the process.
