IOWA testing – Next week

IOWA testing will take place on October 17, 18, 19 and 20 for students in grades 2-8. An information letter was sent home in last week’s Thursday folder.

Please make sure that your children are well rested, have a good night’s sleep and a good breakfast. Please be sure not to schedule any appointments during school hours that will interfere with testing. Testing will begin promptly at 8:30am in Snoqualmie and 9:00am in Issaquah. Late students will not be allowed into the classrooms once the testing has begun.  Students who are absent will have to make-up the missed test. During test week there will be no zero period band or choir.

Middle School Progress Reports

Friday, October 14, 2016 marks the middle of the first trimester, and teachers have updated student grades via the PowerSchool Portal. Please log in with your son or daughter and review his/her current grades. This is an important time to look over your child's progress in each class. When you look at your student’s performance in the gradebook portal, you can view both overall grades and individual assignment grades. To view the assignments in a class, click on the letter grade displayed by the class name. Individual assignments and scores sometimes include teacher comments as well. Remember that mid-trimester grades are a snapshot of your student's performance and a forecasting tool for the remainder of the trimester. It is valuable to look for patterns in student’s performance, set goals and make adjustments. If you have questions about your child's work or classroom performance, talk with him/her about it and encourage your child to talk with the teacher.  Any technical issues logging into the site should be directed to karney@sjsissaquah.org.

Scouting

SJC is hosting a Ministry Fair this Saturday, October 15, 5:00pm-7:00pm and Sunday, October 16, 7:00am-7:00pm. Stop by the BSA booth to see what Scouting is all about.

Scrip will fund $3,000 of its rebates towards the winning campus to be used for the campus’ designated Scrip Fund. Parents & staff, do you have suggestions on where all or part of the $3,000 should be used?  Then we want to hear from you.  The Fall into Scrip contest is asking parents & staff to enter their Make-a-Wish Item(s).  E-mail us with your suggestion(s) at scrip@sjsissaquah.org. No suggestion is too big or too small.  We are all ears on your suggestions on what items your Scrip rebate money should fund. Remember, the Fall into Scrip Contest runs through December 25, 2016.  There is plenty of time to lock in the $3,000 for your campus! Click here to view this week’s flier.

Parents, we will count your PCC Scrip reloads in the Fall into Scrip Contest.  All you need to do is to forward to us your PCC Scrip reload transaction history.  To access your PCC Scrip reload transaction history go to https://secure.pccnaturalmarkets.com/community/scrip/balance/ - at the bottom of this page you have the option for a full transaction history.   The transaction history only displays the last 4 digits of your PCC Scrip card & this summary can be sent to us to count towards Fall into Scrip Contest.
