St. Joseph School Volunteer Orientation - Last Opportunities

This meeting is for any parents or family members who wish to volunteer in the school and have not attended a St. Joseph Volunteer Orientation. The last classes will be held in both Issaquah and Snoqualmie. The Issaquah meeting will be on TuesdayOctober 25 from 8:50-9:10 in the St. Francis Room in the lower part of Saint Joseph Church. The Snoqualmie meeting is on Wednesday, November 2 from 8:15-8:35 am. At St. Joseph School the safety of our students, mind and body, is important to all of us. In order to volunteer in any capacity that involves students including: classroom volunteer, coach, scout leader, field trip volunteer, etc, you must complete all aspects of the Safe Environment process set up by the archdiocese including this class. It is a onetime requirement; in subsequent years you will be required to review the volunteer policy and sign a confidentiality pledge. Please contact Roxane Barkley at office@sjsissaquah.org if you have questions on your status.

For all volunteer requirements, please refer to the volunteer requirement section, under Family and Students on the school website.

Picture retakes

Picture retakes have been scheduled for both campuses on Friday, October 28. Look for pictures to come home with your student next week.

Annual Fund

The 2016-17, Where the Difference Counts, Annual Fund is underway! The Annual Fund is our second largest fundraiser and plays a vital part in the day to day operations of the school. The goal for this year is $130,000 and the key to reaching our goal depends on 100% participation from all families.

THANK YOU to several of our families who have already pledged. We have a great start to our goal and we greatly appreciate your contributions. If you need to pledge for this school year, check your mail in the coming days for your letter and envelope!  For families paying in-parish tuition, please remember, as noted in your Tuition and Fundraising Agreement, pledge cards are due by October 31, 2016. You have until May 31, 2017 to complete payment on your pledge.

Thank you to everyone for their generous support of this important SJS fundraiser.

2016-2017 SJS Annual Auction

Volunteers Needed

We have a fantastic slate of volunteers currently working, but there’s always room for more help. If you’re new to the school, (or if you have been here a while!) this is a great way to meet people. The extra help is always appreciated!  In particular, we’re looking for:

• Decoration helpers at work parties and on auction morning

• Dessert Dash bakers and procurers

• Invitation assemblers

• Auction night helpers including live auction bid recorders, check-in desk helpers, live auction bid spotters and silent table monitors/closers

• General help with setting up the morning of the auction

• Help packing up props and administrative items at the end of the auction

****Class Projects****Class auction project volunteers needed! If you are on board to lead your grade in the auction project, please email Mary Kate Anderson (pmkanders@mac.com).  Please include the names of the classroom project leads and a few ideas that you are thinking about for the project.  All projects need to stay within the budget and will be approved by the auction committee.

****Special Project****We are looking for a volunteer to spearhead an auction video/slideshow that we will show the night of the auction that will feature the SJS students!  If you are willing to help with this project, please let us know!  It will really add to the fun of the auction evening!

If you would like to get involved and volunteer to help with the auction, please email Stephanie Champion (carrsteph@hotmail.com) or Ann-Marie Karh (annkarh@live.com).

Do you know of a business that would like to be an auction sponsor?  Sponsoring the auction is a great way for businesses to help underwrite the event while gaining valuable advertising opportunities.  Levels range from $200-$3,000.  Contact Megan Michalson at mmichalson@sjsissaquah.org if you have any questions or would like more information.  Thank you to the following businesses and families who have already committed to being auction sponsors:  Reverence: Washington Window and Door, Encouragement: Egger Orthodontics, Nobility:Eastside Pediatric Dental Group and

Spirituality: LKD Aerospace

Thank you to everyone who has already turned in their procurement forms.  If you are looking for procurement ideas, here is your answer – the  St. Joseph School Amazon.com Wish List.  All you have to do is check out the list, buy an item and have it shipped to our school!  We also have a procurement wish list and ideas on the auction website.  Generic scrip is also a great way to fulfill your auction procurement commitment.  The auction procurement deadline is November, 11.

If you would like to help in any way with the auction, please reach out to our chairs.  Please email Stephanie at carrsteph@hotmail.com or Ann-Marie at annkarh@live.com.  For more information, please visit the auction website at www.sjsissaquah.org/auction.

Check Auction Procurement off your ‘to do’ list.

Relax, Scrip has you covered.  The Auction Committee has generated a St. Joseph School Amazon.com Wish List.  Simply purchase an Amazon Scrip, for all or part of your auction procurement requirement, or a Scrip Gift Certificate.  Purchase Amazon Scrip or a Scrip Gift Certificate & let the Auction Committee fill out their wish list. We fill out your procurement form and forward the completed form along with the Amazon Scrip or Gift Certificate to the Auction Committee.  If you have any questions concerning purchasing Scrip for your Auction procurement contact us at scrip@sjsissaquah.org.  The auction procurement deadline is November 11.   Your Scrip purchases to fulfill your Auction procurement will generate a rebate to SJS & count in the Fall into Scrip contest.  Remember, the Fall into Scrip Contest runs through December 25, 2016.  There is plenty of time to lock in the $3,000 for your campus!
