St. Joseph School Volunteer Orientation class - Last Opportunity

This meeting is for any parents or family members who wish to volunteer in the school and have not attended a St. Joseph Volunteer Orientation. The last class will be held on the Snoqualmie campus on Wednesday, November 2 from 8:15-8:35 am. Please email Jackie Olund if you plan on attending at jolund@sjsissaquah.org.

At St. Joseph School the safety of our students, mind and body, is important to all of us. In order to volunteer in any capacity that involves students including: classroom volunteer, coach, scout leader, field trip volunteer, etc, you must complete all aspects of the Safe Environment process set up by the archdiocese, including this class. It is a onetime requirement; in subsequent years you will be required to review the volunteer policy and sign a confidentiality pledge. Please contact Roxane Barkley at office@sjsissaquah.org if you have questions on your status.

For all volunteer requirements, please refer to the volunteer requirement section, under Family and Students on the school website.

SAFE Training

St. Joseph Parish has scheduled a SAFE class for Tuesday, November 8 from 6:00-8:00pm in the St. Francis Room.  You can register at seattlearchdiocese.org through the Safe Environment tab on the left. If you have any questions, please call Amy Field at 425-392-5516.

Issaquah Afternoon Carpool Reminder for Parents and Snoqualmie Bus Students

Please use the cross walk at all times during afternoon carpool pick-up. This applies to all parents and to students, including bus students from Snoqualmie. Do not cross between cars to reach the lower parking lot, but use the crosswalk. This is for the safety of our students and parents. Please enter the lower parking lot by way of the crosswalk. Do not use the gate from the lower parking lot to enter or exit the carpool area as it interferes with a safe carpool process.

Congratulations to the Saddler Family

Our fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Saddler, and her family welcomed baby Audrey on October 19 at 11:42pm! She is a beautiful, 6 pound 11oz, bundle of joy! Both baby and mom are doing very well!

Annual Fund

The 2016-17 Where the Difference Counts Annual Fund is underway! The Annual Fund is our second largest fundraiser and plays a vital part in the day to day operations of the school. The goal for this year is $130,000 and the key to reaching our goal depends on 100% participation from all families.

THANK YOU to several of our families who have already pledged. We have a great start to our goal and we greatly appreciate your contributions. If you have not made a pledge or gift for this school year, a reminder letter was mailed home. For families paying in-parish tuition, please remember, as noted in your Tuition and Fundraising Agreement, pledge cards are due by October 31, 2016. You have until May 31, 2017 to complete payment on your pledge.

AUCTION NEWS

2016-2017 SJS Annual Auction

Volunteers Needed

We have a fantastic slate of volunteers currently working, but there’s always room for more help. If you’re new to the school, (or if you have been here a while!) this is a great way to meet people. The extra help is always appreciated!  In particular, we’re looking for:

• Decoration helpers at work parties and on auction morning

• Dessert Dash bakers and procurers

• Auction night helpers including live auction bid recorders, check-in desk helpers, live auction bid spotters and silent table monitors/closers

• General help with setting up the morning of the auction

****Class Projects****Class auction project volunteers needed! If you are on board to lead your grade in the auction project, please email Mary Kate Anderson (pmkanders@mac.com).  Please include the names of the classroom project leads and a few ideas that you are thinking about for the project.  All projects need to stay within the budget and will be approved by the auction committee.

****Special Project****We are looking for a volunteer to spearhead an auction video/slideshow that we will show the night of the auction that will feature the SJS students!  If you are willing to help with this project, please let us know!  It will really add to the fun of the auction evening!

If you would like to get involved and volunteer to help with the auction, please email Stephanie Champion (carrsteph@hotmail.com) or Ann-Marie Karh (annkarh@live.com).

Procurement

Thank you to everyone who has already turned in their procurement forms.  If you are looking for procurement ideas, here is your answer – the  St. Joseph School Amazon.com Wish List.  All you have to do is check out the list, buy an item and have it shipped to our school!  We also have a procurement wish list and ideas on the auction website.  Generic scrip is also a great way to fulfill your auction procurement commitment.  The auction procurement deadline is November, 11

If you would like to help in any way with the auction, please reach out to our chairs.  Please email Stephanie at carrsteph@hotmail.com or Ann-Marie at annkarh@live.com.  For more information, please visit the auction website at www.sjsissaquah.org/auction.

FUNDRAISING

Fall into Scrip is well under way – WOW!!! The campuses could not be any closer!

Issaquah campus has generated $14,140 Scrip purchases.  Snoqualmie campus has generated over $14,070 Scrip purchases. Every purchase counts in the Fall into Scrip Contest.  Support your campus with your purchase of Scrip. Issaquah—vs—Snoqualmie Winning Campus collects $3,000!!!! Scrip will fund $3,000 of its rebates towards the winning campus to be used for the campus’ designated Scrip Fund. Parents & staff, do you have suggestions on where all or part of the $3,000 should be used?  Then we want to hear from you.  The Fall into Scrip contest is asking parents & staff to enter their Make-a-Wish Item(s).  E-mail us with your suggestion(s) at scrip@sjsissaquah.org. Issaquah Wish Item include soccer goals to fit on the grass out in front of the Parish Hall (Mrs. Merchent gave this suggestion a big thumbs up). Snoqualmie Wish Items include real footballs, umbrellas, & better air-conditioning/ventilation.  No suggestion is too big or too small.  We are all ears on your suggestions on what items your Scrip rebate money should fund. Remember, the Fall into Scrip Contest runs through December 25, 2016.  There is plenty of time to lock in the $3,000 for your campus!

Parents, remember we will count your PCC Scrip reloads in the Fall into Scrip Contest.  All you need to do is to forward to us your PCC Scrip reload transaction history.  To access your PCC Scrip reload transaction history, go to https://secure.pccnaturalmarkets.com/community/scrip/balance/ - at the bottom of this page you have the option for a full transaction history.   The transaction history only displays the last 4 digits of your PCC Scrip card & this summary can be sent to us to count towards Fall into Scrip Contest.  PCC Scrip reload transaction history only goes back 10 transactions.  So, pass along your transaction history to us every few weeks.  The above Scrip totals include individual’s PCC Scrip reload values - thank you for taking the additional time to forward us your transaction history.
