It’s that time of year again when students are getting sick. This is a reminder from our student handbook:  “For short absences of two days or less, students should make arrangements with classmates or check teachers’ websites regarding assignments. For absences greater than two days, student work may be requested from the teacher and picked up in the school office.” After two days, all homework requests should be directed to the teacher.

A healthy start to the school year

As the school year begins please remind your children to avoid sharing hats, hairbrushes and helmets as we wish to remain a lice free zone! We encourage you to be diligent in random checks of your children to encourage a healthy start to the school year. We currently have no reported cases of lice on either campus.

School Nut Free Policy

Food Allergy & Nut Policy

For some students exposure to any kind of nuts may cause a life-threatening allergic reaction that requires emergency medical treatment.  To reduce the chance of this occurring, both campuses are NUT FREE at all times.  Please do not send any nuts or nut containing products to school with your child.  If your child has eaten any nuts before coming to school, please ensure your child’s hands and face have been thoroughly washed before entering the school. However, the school cannot guarantee a totally nut free environment.

Medication at School

The Washington Board of Health requires that ALL medication (over-the-counter or prescription) given during school hours requires an “Authorization to Administer Oral Medication” to be on file in the school office. This form includes the condition requiring medication, the drug to be administered, and the physician’s signature. All medications must be kept in the office in a secure location with clearly labeled written instructions. A student will report to the office at the prescribed time to have medication administered. Students will take all medications in the office and staff will initial a record keeping form. Teachers do not dispense medications. RCW 28A.210.260 and 28A.210.270 and 28A.210.280 and 28A.210.290
