Extracurricular Activities


These classes held during the afternoon are instructor led. There are a wide variety of activities to choose from. Listed below is a sampling. 

Grades K-3

Chess 4 Life - Chess is an intriguing, complex, and strategic game that requires patience, sportsmanship, perseverance and critical thinking. Beyond simply the mastery of the game of chess, many virtues are instilled that will help students in everyday decision making.

Spanish Club - Learning Spanish is as easy as uno, dos, tres! Current research has found a positive link between learning a second language and cognitive and academic ability. In Amigos Spanish Club, children will learn numbers, colors shapes, greetings, days of the week and more!

Coding with Kids - Give your student an opportunity to learn how to create their own programs! Coding with Kids portfolio of classes is updated with new projects each session so that your student can continue to climb the Coder’s Ladder from the very beginnings to high school AP Courses.

Grades 4-8

Speech - “Speech is power: speech is to persuade, to convert, to compel.”- Ralph Waldo Emerson. 6th, 7th & 8th grade students have the opportunity to be part of Saint Joseph School Speech Team. Students practice dramatic, humorous, oratory, editorial, and impromptu speeches over the course of many weeks. The students compete in two tournaments during the year, using judges’ and peer feedback to improve and grow. Public speaking is a vital life skill that will blossom during the team practices and tournaments!  

Robotics - The after-school program is more than just building LEGO robotics.  Students participating will be working on research projects based on the themes chosen by FIRST LEGO League (FLL) and Seattle Prep Robotics. Students will be learning about coding, project management, team building and “gracious professionalism.”
