Important Dates Coming Up

Back to School Nights: Issaquah (September 12 - TONIGHT) and Snoqualmie (September 17) from 6:30 - 8:00 PM
Please join us for Back to School Night on September 12 (Issaquah) or 17 (Snoqualmie)! You'll have the opportunity to meet with your student's teachers and learn more about the curriculum plans for the upcoming school year.

We will be holding Volunteer Training immediately before each Back to School Night, beginning at 6:00 PM.

General Reminders
Summer Reading Book Trackers
All students finishing K-4 last year received a SJS "Summer Reading Book Tracker" bookmark in June. To receive their Free Dress Pass, students must return their completed "Book Trackers" to their teacher, librarian or office by Friday, September 20.

Lacrosse
Fall Sessions!
New Players Welcome
The Issaquah Lacrosse program is offering FREE lacrosse clinics for beginners this fall for boys K-5th grade. There are four days where kids can show up and no equipment is required.
The main lacrosse season is in the spring and starts up Feb/Mar time frame.
If there are any girls 1st - 5th grade that are interested in playing lacrosse they can go to www.issylax.org and click on the green "girls lacrosse link".

St. Joseph Cub Scout Pack 200
Welcome to another year of Cub Scout Pack 200! We're headquartered here at St. Josephs and comprised of boys in grades 1-5. We focus on helping boys growing physically, mentally and morally through fun, skill-based learning, community service and unique adventures!

Our program runs from September through June and is an easy commitment of 1-2 events each month. Please contact Cubmaster Brendan O’Reilly at brendan463@gmail.com or (206)391-3442 and see the flier in today’s Thursday folder for more details. Our kick-off event is an exciting day-camp on September 23rd, join us!

Salmon Days – 2019
Salmon Days is around the corner and we are excited to have a presence once again! This year, not only will we participate in the parade but we will also host a booth! If your child is interested in joining us for the parade on Saturday, October 5th please email development@sjsissaquah.org. Students of all ages are encouraged to participate! This is a great way for students in Middle School to earn hours!

If you are interested in volunteering at our booth on Saturday, October 5th or Sunday, October 6th please email scogan@sjsissaquah.org .

Directory Information for the 2019-2020 School Year
If you wish to have contact information excluded from the directory please email Annie at snoqualmie@sjsissaquah.org by the end of the day Friday, September 13th. Please specify what information you want excluded (for example: exclude address only, exclude phone only, exclude all information including names). Also, please specify if you want your child’s name and phone number excluded from the class list section. Any changes after this date will be published in the second trimester updates.

Newsletter Blurbs and Flyers

Please submit all Newsletter blurbs by Tuesday if you would like them in Thursday's E-News. All fliers and blurbs must be approved. We try to keep the fliers to a minimum. Send all information to Annie at snoqualmie@sjsissaquah.org.


HIGH 5'S If your child or child's team has an outstanding success or achievement, we would like to acknowledge them in the E-News. Please send a short blurb to Annie at snoqualmie@sjsissaquah.org.

General Information

School Hours and Office Hours
Elementary school hours are as follows:

Issaquah Campus
Hours: 8:55 am to 3:20 pm

Wednesday Early Release: 8:55 am to 2:05 pm

Office Hours: 8:45 am to 4:00 pm (doors lock at 4:00 pm)

Snoqualmie Campus
Hours: 8:30 am to 3:00 pm
Wednesday Early Release: 8:30 am to 1:45 pm

Office Hours: 8:10 am to 3:30 pm (doors lock at 3:30 pm)

All parents and visitors must sign in at the school offices before going to classrooms. Teachers have requested if you would like to meet with your child's teacher please email them to set up an appointment.
Campus opens at the following times for Students
Students are not allowed on campus before school unless they are in Extended Care in Issaquah or before school activities in Snoqualmie. Students may not be left unattended or dropped off before the drop-off attendant is present. Attendants are present at the following times:

Issaquah Campus: 8:45 am
Snoqualmie Campus: 8:10 am

Students walking off campus after school
If your child has permission to walk off campus after school, a letter signed by the parent must be on file in the school office. A new letter is required each school year.

Parents' Club
Parents' Club Event Check Form
If you were unable to attend Taking Care of Business Day please be sure to fill out the Parents' Club Event Check Form. Fees included on this form are: Class Auction Project, Lazarus House, Emergency Supply, Field Day, and optional Yearbook order. The form is due for PreK through 8th grade students on Friday, October 5th to either office. You can find the form on our website.

Volunteer Opportunities & Requirements

Mandatory Volunteer Requirements:
At St. Joseph School the safety of our students, mind and body, is important to all of us. In order to volunteer in any capacity that involves students such as classroom volunteers, coaches, scout leaders, or field trip volunteers, volunteers must meet the following requirements:

NEW VOLUNTEERS:

  • Attend a volunteer training at St. Joseph School. Scheduled for just prior to either campus’ Back to School Night.

  • Sign a Confidentiality Pledge yearly (last page of the Volunteer Handbook),

  • Go online at virtusonline.org to request and pass a Volunteer Background Check.

  • Attend a free, 3-hour Safe Environment training program “Protecting God’s Children” for Adults held in locations throughout the Seattle Archdiocese. (Register for classes at www.virtusonline.org)

  • Send a copy of your certificate of completion to Roxane Barkley in the school office.
