St. Joseph School will present a sexual abuse prevention program, the Touching Safety program, to our students in starting in October. The creators of the Protecting God’s Children™ program developed the Touching Safety program. This program is provided to us by the Seattle Archdiocese, and is a part of our ongoing effort to help create and maintain a safe environment for children and to protect all children from sexual abuse.
The scheduled lesson is being offered to all students at St. Joseph School. As a parent, you have the right to choose whether your student participates. We encourage you to read the “overview” and “lesson plan” so you’ll be aware of the nature of the Touching Safety program on the Virtus website.
If you have questions about the program or the lesson, please contact Wayne Wenzel at firstname.lastname@example.org
If you determine that you DO NOT want your child to participate, please complete the “opt-out” form at the bottom of this page and return it to your child’s teacher no later than October 10th

LOOKING AHEAD - OCTOBER
Salmon Days 2019
Join St. Joseph Parish School in the Salmon Days Parade!
We are looking for all students to represent our school as we march in the Salmon Days Parade on Saturday, October 5th!
All students are encouraged to participate.
We are super excited this year as we will be participating in the parade using a trailer.
This way, students under the age of 8 years old can join us!
Participants will need to be dropped off at the staging area at 9:00am and then the parade will start at 10:00am. If your student would like to participate, please email Megan Michalson at email@example.com.
This is also a great way for students in grades 6th through 8th to earn community service hours. (the approximate distance of the parade is about 1.5 miles)
Annual Fall Book Fair
October 7th - October 10th
"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn the more places you'll go" Dr. Seuss
This year the Scholastic Book Fair will be introducing eWallets. eWallet is a secure way to give kids money to buy books. Parents/Guardians can set a pre-authorized amount to control spending and money is immediately available to use. Student eWallets are available for setup from the book fair homepage starting September 23, 2019. An eWallet must be created for each student; accounts cannot be shared or transferred. A preauthorization charge will appear on the credit card in the amount selected as the spending limit. Additional funds can be added to the eWallet at any time. For more information, visit our school’s scholastic homepage.

Box Tops is Going Digital
Box Tops is moving to an all digital/no more clipping format. You may have noticed some of your favorite box tops products have changed their Box Tops icon to the No More Clipping Scan Your receipt format. You can download the box tops app and submit a picture of your receipts to claim box tops for SJS. Every person who downloads the app and scans at least 1 receipt with at least 1 box tops reward on it by 9/30/19, enters our school in a contest to double our fall submission reward.
If you need help submitting your receipts, feel free to contact Beth at Peterson.firstname.lastname@example.org.
As they make the transition, there are still many products with the box tops to clip. Please continue clipping and send in any box tops you have clipped.
Thank you for helping us build our school library!
